homeowner's coverage highlights
Extended Replacement Cost
This covers the full cost of rebuilding your home after a
covered loss, even if the cost exceeds your dwelling coverage
amount. In the event of a total loss, you may choose to rebuild
your home at another location with coverage up to your policy
limit (a standard industry policy does not allow rebuilding
at any location other than the original).
Cash Option Replacement
You are not required to repair or replace your property after
a covered loss, but may choose a cash settlement instead,
up to the coverage amount (a standard industry policies will
not have this option).
Replacement Cost on Contents
This covers the full cost of replacing your contents after
a covered loss, up to your policy's limits. This coverage
even applies to rare or antique items (coverage on rare or
antique items not on a replacement cost basis unless scheduled
appropriately).
Special Contents Coverage
This provides specific protection for a range of valuable
possessions including: money, furs, silverware, stamps and
coins, jewelry, securities, trailers, and watercraft.
Additional Living Expense
This is also known as "loss of use" coverage. If
your house cannot be lived in because of a covered loss, this
covers any increase in your living expenses that is necessary
to maintain your household's normal standard of living.
Water Back-up Coverage
This provides protection for your home and contents damaged
by the back-up of sewers or drains (usually an additional
premium under a standard homeowners policy).
Rebuilding to Code
After a covered loss, this covers the cost of conforming to
any ordinance that regulates the repair, rebuilding, or demolition
of your house.
Debris Removal
This covers the reasonable expenses incurred to remove debris
from a covered loss in addition to the stated coverage amount.
Construction Materials
This provides protection from theft of construction materials
and supplies owned by you at each location used in the construction,
alteration and repair of your house or other permanent structures.
Credit Cards, Forgery and Counterfeiting
This provides for a covered person's legal obligation up to
a total of $10,000 for: loss or theft of a credit or bank
card, loss caused by forgery or alteration of a check or negotiable
instrument, good faith acceptance of any counterfeit paper
or currency. Under a standard homeowners policy, the amount
is usually limited to $500.
This proposal is descriptive only. The precise coverage afforded
is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the
